On Sunday, July 9, the Catalan Speed Pistol Championship took place at the facilities of the Catalan Olympic Shooting Federation located at the Public Safety Institute of Catalonia, in Mollet de Vallès.
For this competition, the Catalan Federation has twenty electronic targets 25 meters away that have allowed four athletes to participate at the same time, since 5 targets arranged horizontally must be shot.
This year the regulations of this Olympic modality have been modified and the Catalan Federation has carried out the competition with the new ISSF international regulations, which incorporate small changes, especially at the time of the Olympic finals.
The qualifying phase consists of 60 competition shots in two equal parts, made up of three groups of two series, in eight seconds, six seconds and four seconds.
Following the new regulations, once the first round was completed by all the participants, a draw was made ordering the following rounds based on the score and preventing the athlete from competing again from the same place where they made the first round.
After the qualifying rounds, an Olympic final was held that pitted the four best ranked teams in four-second qualifying rounds where only shots from 9.7 are counted.
The athlete Jordi Francesc Balañá has participated from the Cambrils Shooting Club, who has managed to enter the final classified in second position and obtaining fourth place in the senior category.
The winner of this edition of the Championship has been the athlete from the Barcelona Shooting Club Emilio Manzano.
