OLYMPIC ATHLETE SONIA FRANQUET AT OUR CLUB.

Olympic athlete Sonia Franquet with the future athletes of the Cambrils Olympic Shooting Club.
The athlete, who earned an Olympic diploma at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, was named an Honorary Member of the club during a skills training session with the club’s young members.
This Friday afternoon, the Cambrils Olympic Shooting Club experienced a historic day with the visit of Olympic athlete Sonia Franquet. The club’s facilities were packed to welcome one of the most prominent figures in international shooting sports, in an event that combined technical instruction and institutional recognition.
A masterclass for the young talent.
During the meeting, Franquet led a training and skills session in air pistol, the discipline in which she has competed in three Olympic Games. The young members of the shooting school and club members were able to ask questions and refine their technique under the expert guidance of the athlete, who shared her knowledge with ease and approachability.
Recognition of an elite career.
In one of the most moving moments of the afternoon, club president Jordi Amorós, on behalf of the board of directors, named Sònia Franquet an Honorary Member of the organization.
This tribute recognizes her brilliant career—marked by numerous national and international achievements, most notably her sixth-place finish at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games—and the values of effort and perseverance she embodies. The recognition also aims to highlight her role as a role model for club members and, especially, for the club’s younger generation of athletes.
The event was attended by Gemma Balanyà, the Councilor for Sports of the Cambrils City Council, who joined the club in this heartfelt tribute to an athlete who, from now on, is also an integral part of the organization.
