Successful turnout at the traditional Ham Competition held on St. Stephen’s Day
CAMBRILS, December 26, 2025.
As part of the town’s festival program, the traditional and popular Ham Competition was held once again on December 26, St. Stephen’s Day. This event has become a firmly established fixture on the municipality’s sporting and social calendar. The day began at 9:00 a.m. with a communal breakfast for members and their families, where attendees enjoyed bread with tomato, pre-sliced ham, cheese, traditional flatbread, drinks, and snacks. A total of 30 athletes participated, accompanied by their families, in a festive and convivial atmosphere.  The competition allowed each participant to compete in four categories: IPSC, Airguns, Historical Firearms, and Standard/Centerfire. The competition system, highly valued for its popular appeal, awards the best hit out of 10 per target and category, introducing an element of chance that makes this event one of the most attractive for athletes. The maximum number of shots was 20 per category, except for Historical Weapons, where it was limited to 13. The prizes consisted of several hams and gifts, including a special prize for junior athletes, as well as a raffle for participants who did not win an immediate prize.
The awards ceremony took place at 6:00 p.m., attended by the mayor, Mr. Oliver Klein, and the president of the organization, Mr. Jordi Amorós, who addressed the attendees, highlighting the importance of these types of events for the social and sporting life of the municipality.                                                                  The winners of this edition were:
• Víctor Mesa, IPSC category (December 12, 2025)
• Jesús Arribas, Air Rifle category
• F. Javier Vernet, Historical Firearms (Break-Loading) category
• Ramón Turallols, Centerfire category
• María D. Corbella, Standard category
• Josefina Roselló, winner of the fifth ham raffle
The organizers highly value the day’s events and emphasize that, once again, the Ham Competition has been a resounding success, reinforcing its role as one of the most anticipated activities of the local festivities.
