Last weekend, the Air Pistol Federation Cup took place at the La Rioja Autonomous Community’s Olympic Shooting Sports Training Center, near the city of Logroño. The novelty this year was the replacement of the shooting range lighting with more modern LED fixtures. During these days of competition, more than 160 athletes participated, many of them individually and as part of Federation teams. The facilities allow sixty athletes to compete in the same round. Two athletes from the Cambrils Shooting Club participated. One of them, Joan Pallares, achieved an excellent sixth place individually in the veterans category, and as part of the Catalan Federation’s Veterans team, he secured the runner-up position in the Federation team competition.
On the other hand, Jordi Balañá participated in the senior category, achieving twentieth place.
This is an Olympic sport, and many athletes were striving for high scores to qualify for international championships.
The organization was excellent, with the competitions running on schedule.
It was a very exciting few days, filled with a great sense of camaraderie among all the participants.
