Last Sunday, July 12th, the Catalan Federation of Olympic Shooting held its 9mm pistol championship at its facilities in Mollet del Vallès.
This competition consists of two parts: an accuracy test and a speed test, with thirty shots in each. The most challenging part is the twenty-second interval in which five shots must be fired, given the high recoil of these weapons and the difficulty of re-aiming the sights after firing.
Once all the athletes are on the firing line, the judges check each participant’s trigger pull to ensure it is within the regulation weight of one kilogram. In the first round, the athlete from Cambrils, Jordi Balañá, achieved the runner-up position in the senior category, after a tiebreaker in two rounds of rapid shooting, with the athlete from the Girona Shooting Club, Jordi Murtra, who finally came in third place, the winner of this edition of the Generalitat Trophy for 9MM Rovira Pistol.
