Cambrils wins the Catalan Air Pistol Championship.
This past Sunday, September 11, the Catalan Air Pistol Championship took place in the enormous covered pavilion for the Olympic 10 meter air pistol modality, equipped with more than 70 electronic targets of the Catalan Federation of Olympic Shooting located in the Institute of Public Security of Catalonia, in Mollet del Vallès.
The competition began punctually with the summons of the athletes to their positions at 8:30 a.m., once all the competitors are on the firing line, the competition judges go through all the participants and check the weight of the trigger of the weapon necessary to activate the trigger, in case this weight is less than 500 grams, they give the athlete the opportunity to correct the weight of the trigger.
The competition has a test time of a quarter of an hour where you can make real shots on the target and the result is shown immediately on the monitors, once this time is over, the judges inform by loudspeaker that the competition time begins, the Athletes have 75 minutes to fire 60 shots.
The participation by all the Catalan Clubs was very numerous, since this competition is the most disputed of the year, since it is an Olympic modality.
This year, due to software update problems in the scoring control system, the Olympic final could not be played. International regulations have changed very recently and the Catalan Tyring Federation has not been given enough time to adapt to the new regulations.
Jordi Balañá has participated from the Cambrils Olympic Shooting Club, managing to win the championship in the Senior category, ahead of the athletes Jordi Rissech from the Barcelona Shooting Club and Francisco Cabrera from the Sabadell Shooting Club, in the Veteran category, from our club, has participated Joan Pallares obtaining the seventh position.
