This past Sunday, March 23, the Catalan Olympic Shooting Federation’s sporting event, the Generalitat Trophy for 9mm pistols, took place at the Barcelona Olympic Shooting Club, in magnificent facilities located at the top of Montjuïc Mountain. The competition began promptly at 9:00 a.m. and was refereed by members of the Catalan Federation. This competition consists of two parts: one for accuracy and the other for speed, with thirty shots each. The most complex part is the twenty-second period in which five shots must be fired, taking into account that these weapons have a high recoil, and it is difficult to re-engage the sights once fired. Once all the athletes are on the firing line, the competition judges go through all the participants and check the trigger weight of the weapon required to pull the trigger at the regulation weight of one kilogram. Some of them pass the ammunition through a stopwatch to control the factor, a size obtained by combining the velocity and the weight of the projectile, with the minimum being the minimum. In the second round, Cambrils athlete Jordi Balañá managed to qualify in second place in the senior category, after a tiebreaker of 560 points with Jordi Murtra from the Girona Shooting Club, who was the winner of this edition of the Generalitat 9MM Pistol Trophy.
