XVI RIOJA WINE OPEN.

Joan Pallarès, from the Cambrils Olympic shooting club, once again takes the podium in Logroño.
On November 9 and 10, the XVI La Rioja Wine Open was held at the Prado Salobre Sports Technology Center in Lardero (Logroño).
A sport shooting competition with rifle and pneumatic pistol that brought together 41 athletes from various autonomous communities, Aragon, Cantabria, Castile and Leon, Catalonia, Galicia, La Rioja, Navarra and the Basque Country. The organization has only contemplated 3 categories: Seniors, Ladies and Veterans.
In the veterans category, our representative has achieved 3rd position, with a total of 534 points, the same as the second classified, Íñigo Castellanos from La Rioja. The balance was tipped by the number of “centers” (number of shots most centered on the target) which was 7, versus 6 for Pallarès. This fact demonstrates the importance of each feature, each one in itself, is a competition.
The champion of the category and also almost absolute, as he achieved more points than the seniors themselves, was Joan Pelàez, from the Montjuïc club, with 553 points.
The facilities at Prado Salobre are truly spectacular, among the best in the country; and both the organization and the refereeing have been impeccable, as it could not be otherwise, instead of medals, the champions have taken home wine from La Rioja.
These sporting events strengthen the sport of sport shooting and contribute to making new friends and enjoying very good times of camaraderie, while testing one’s own skills and posing a challenge for the athletes, which is what makes this sport exciting.
In short, a good experience, in which the Cambrils Shooting Club has been represented and, as always, leaving a good taste in the mouth in the competitions it participates in both Catalonia and outside our country.
