  • From 25 to 31 August, the 30th World Championship of Historical Muzzle-loading Weapons was held in Valeggio sul Mincio (Italy), organised by the Muzze Loaders Associations International Confederation, M.L.A.I.C. Some 400 athletes from 24 countries from all over the world participated in this championship, competing in the different categories of handgun, long gun and clay pigeon.
In order to qualify, representing Spain, one had to achieve a minimum mark established for each category and be in the top positions of a national ranking based on the results in different competitions at state level (president’s cup phases and Spanish championship). The Spanish team, on this occasion, had 3 representatives from our club: Jesús Arribas, Pedro Pardo and Héctor Vila who competed in different categories.
The Spanish team won a total of 16 medals, eight individual and eight as teams. The athletes of our club obtained some meritorious results, highlighting the bronze medal won by Jesús Arribas in the Tanzutsu (Japanese matchlock pistol) category.
Without a doubt, participation in a world championship, where experiences are shared, new friendships are made and one learns from other athletes is something positive for the participants in particular and for muzzleloading in our club.
From our club we would like to congratulate the members who have competed in the world championship for their qualification to be in the national team and for the results obtained in the competition, and especially our new international medalist, Jesús Arribas, who has placed our club and Cambrils in the international elite of shooting with historical weapons.
