Last Sunday, November 27, the air pistol president’s cup took place at the facilities of the Catalan Olympic Shooting Federation located at the Public Safety Institute of Catalonia, in Mollet de Vallès. The number of entries and the enormous capacity of the 10-meter gallery allowed all the athletes of all categories to compete in a single round at 9:00 a.m., a rigorous winter cold that put the athletes to the test. Both the arbitration and the punctuality in the schedules were impeccable. This cup is from a preliminary phase of 15 minutes of preparation that, once finished, begins the competition that consists of 60 shots in 75 minutes, at an electronic target located 10 meters away, controlled with a score monitor. Once the first eight classified seniors were finished, they participated in an Olympic final with the new ISSF regulations, which was very exciting, especially the final part in which the two finalists compete for the gold medal.
In the test, the athletes of the Cambrils Olympic Shooting Club competed for the first time, Joan Pallares, managing to be runner-up in the veterans category and Jordi Francesc Balañá Arbó managing to finish the eleven classified in the senior category and champion by Federations teams as representative of the Catalan Federation. The winner of this edition of the Championship was the athlete Gustavo Daniel Alba Medina from the Valencian Shooting Federation.
